Apologies for the slight thread necromancy, I searched the forums for pfsense and this one came up, it seems perfect.
I'm looking to build a pfsense system as I'd like to have my commercial VPN account setup at the router level, the lowly WRT54GL router I have now can barely shunt out 500kilobytes/sec with an openVPN or PPTP connection.
I then plumped upon an Asus RT-N56U (which hasn't arrived yet) and after further checking it seems like that one will not be good enough for what I need either. :/
So, I'm looking to build a machine as cheap as possible that'll handle very heavy traffic, I'm talking *really* heavy (hence the need for a VPN to stop my ISP from throttling me).
As a moderator over at the radioarchive I'm expected to help maintain the collection, so I can have anywhere between 5-7000 torrents seeding whilst I'm downloading new material from usenet, all the while Mother is videochatting with the family, downloading PSP scrapkits and moderating her forums.
Long story short, will the above setup cope with that kind of thrashing through a VPN connection if I double the memory to 8Gb?
Cheers for reading.
