I have a week to kill in Dorset/Cornwall (probably) in a couple of weeks. Going to take a tent, bike and a camera with me. Where should I go/stay/see?

Not so much an expert on Dorset but more so on Cornwall:

Tintagel - supposed castle of King Arthur
Polperro - quaint little fishing village near Looe in South East Cornwall
Anywhere on the North Coast to get pictures of the sun setting into the Sea
Bedruthan Steps - spectacular beach between Newquay and Padstow
Padstow itself is pretty nice, there is also the whole Camel trail cycle route to explore, and Rock is a short boat trip across the estuary
St Agnes to Porthtowan has a great cliff walk, complete with tin mine wheel house, and the beach from Chapel Porth to Porthtowan is one of my favourites

I also have NT/EH cards so can go to those sorts of places, in fact I'd quite like to, if there are any recommendations.

Went there a couple of years ago (me, wife and daughters 6 and 9 at the time) and we did:

Tintagel - LOTS of steps, you will keep fit here
Lost Gardens of Heligan - if you like flowers
Tamar Otter Sanctuary - if you like otters
Lanhydrock (national trust) - typical NT place - food was really good
Eden Project - quite expensive for what it is, but worth doing at least once
Falmouth Harbour area was nice and especially the maritime museum
Charlestown harbour was pretty and the museum there good value

For beaches, just ask the locals wherever you're staying. We were in a flat at the edge of St Austell and there were a couple of good ones within 10 minutes drive.

some good cornwall suggestions ,i park by the church in tintagel and walk to trebarwith (very tide dependent beach)
lucky enough to have the camel trail on my doorstep ,wenfordbridge to padstow ,picnic on beach after locking bikes up and back.
park up in polzeath walk to rock £4 rtn ferry to padstow is another nice time filler.
st agnes area is awesome as well had a caravan there in my tourist days chapel porth beach ,beacon ect ,nice bike rides from portreath where theres a mining trail right down to devoran.
my favorite beach section is holywell up to polly joke (prob there tommorow)

St Ives is very close to my heart, having had some great family holidays there over the years and it was also the choice for the first holiday my wife and I had together, back in the days when we were 'courting', if you pardon the archaic term!

Not sure what it's like now though - we haven't been since the mid-to-late 90s ...

Do you mean a bicycle or a motorbike? There are bicycle routes that you could do. If you can carry your camping stuff on the bike some are multi day routes.

There is also a footpath all around the SW coast so lots of potential for walks with great scenery to look at and take photos of.

Durdle door, lovely place not just a funny name.

If walking is your thing, park up at the NT car park at Ringstead Bay. Lovely walk then along the cliffs to Durdle Door. Carry on to Lulworth Cove for drinks + ice cream, then turn around and head back. You can either follow the coastal path back or head up the road from Lulworth Cove, over the fields to Durdle Door Holiday Park and re-join the coastal path before the old Coastguard Cottages.

I was there this time last year.

It hasn't changed much, just seems a lot busier than it did before. There's a cracking little, very old, pub down there called the Sloop Inn. Had a nice few jars there. Bikes will be OK, but do not drive to St Ives in the tourist season, it is an absolute nightmare. When the suns shining though, it is a most idyllic place.

Try and avoid giant pot holes in the road, good luck you will need it.

Corfe Castle is nice though

Yeah plenty to see and do from West Bay through to Poole - without knowing what the OP is into not sure what to recommend though. Hardy's Monument is worth stopping by for a few minutes if you are passing by - some reasonable views on a good day.

Anything that's worth visiting really, touristy stuff, I guess. Whatever people get up to down there?
