+1 for St Ives. Beautiful area. The missus and I usually stay at Tregenna castle and it is stunning. Even if you dont stay there, walk through the grounds and past the castle!
Spec me: Things to do and see in Dorset and/or Cornwall

For photography, if you're into land/seascapes then in Dorset;
Lulworth & durdle door.
Walk along the coast path east to Mupe bay.
Tyneham and Worbarrow (tyneham is an abandoned village, Worbarrow bay is beautiful).
Kimmeridge is great for photography too.
Cornwall;
Anywhere on the North coast but my fav places are Trevose head and Bedruthan Steps
Also Porthcurno
If you're not going too far into Cornwall then Hartland Quay just on the Devon Border is also amazing for sunset photography and it's pretty much the right time of year for it now.
