Hey guys - well I'm thinking of building a new PC from scratch so just seing what you can come up with.

Budget is probs around 600-700 including a monitor but excluding peripherals and operating system.

I preferably want a windowed case and an Intel CPU (i3,i5 or i7).

General uses really - doing work, browsing the internet, listening to music and watching 720/1080 video so I ideally want a HDMI out on the graphics.

Probably won't be overclocking as I'm scared I will blow it up :P

What is work? Using MS Office?

If so you can't really go wrong for 600 quid if your not doing anything intensive. Just make sure your bits are compatible.

My effort, slighty over the £600. And no window in the case, But £600 with a monitor the best i could come with. At least you will have an overclocked rig without the worry or hassle of doing it your self. You can always drop the hdd as save a few quid.

Will you be hooking it up to a TV as well, or just the monitor?

If your only using a monitor, and as you dont really need huge processing power, I would go with a cheaper AMD set up and spend more on the screen. I have put my effort below, giving you a 27" 1080p beauty to watch your movies. and you still have a 3.1Ghz x2 processor that is also very easy to overclock if you decide to. Again this is slightly over budget, but if your using XP you can change the 4GB Ram for 2GB, and probably use a lesser graphics card if your sure you wont be playing any games..
