So, my samsung evo drive turned up this morning to bide things over until the new rig was ready, unfortunately my current mobo does not support AHCI, so I am unable to use the drive to its full potential. :(

In light of such a disaster... i'm forced to bring my new build forward :D

Usage wise, it will be used for hardcore gaming, including MMO multiboxing. Web design and graphics work, as well as high quality video rendering and finishing (after effects etc).

I already have the 1 samsung evo for the OS, commonly uses files and programs. Will buy another one to run games from, and then also use my current 2tb storage drives, or potentially buy new ones to transfer and sort data out.

Heres what i've currently got:

Now the difficulties.

Havent properly specced the PSU yet, so thats a placeholder.

Can't decide on a case, I would like a caselabs case, but at £600-£700 this seems unrealistic, so may need to track one down second hand, or find an alternative... which isn't going to be easy.

Cooling... with such a nice setup, maybe its worth watercooling. I'll use the CPU step up option Asus provide, but otherwise won't be overclocking (probably).

My concern with watercooling is previously I had a watercooled setup which had a resonance... hard to explain, but it drove me crazy, imagine something like this:
is that something thats still around or are the pumps better nowdays?

fav color?

Black :D

Though if looking at the whole build, basically keep things matching, eg the asus board is black and red, so would match everything else to that, havent decided on the lighting though, not sure on red or the classic blue.

How's this?

Ok, I have no idea what's going on in there :p

A D5 and a tube res should be pretty much silent if you decouple the pump (use a sponge type of thing or hang it off the res) . Mine are :)

Yea, its a P4 system, shows how long ago it was I watercooled

Not sure what res/pump tops are, but I believe he's using D5 pumps with Bitspower D5 mod kits (the chrome 'barrel' things).

If you want that kind of pimping, you'll have to spend a bit more :)

Then do a spec with the OC board, maybe UD4H and nerd porn RAM?
