I have £260, and I just need the following:

C2D CPU
Mobo
PSU
HSF (maybe)

I have been given OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel as a gift, and I already have the usual HDD, and X1950 GPU, and the optical drives etc....

Cheers

That psu is not silent. Many people say its very loud.

Also why buy such an expensive cpu but a cheap mobo? Surely its better to get a 50 quid cpu and a more expensive mobo to overclock the cheap cpu to the speeds of the fast cpu?

A 1.6ghz intel will go to 3.2ghz if your lucky. That seems a better investment.

Try one of the gigaybte boards

:EDIT:

Pritty much waht billy just said grrr he always steals these spec ups from me while i type them out grrr!

Looking good so far, but I am sorry I forgot to mention that its for my nephew and he won't be overclocking the hardware and wants the comp for the Internet and games.

So really need to stick to the budget as much as possible

TIA :)

How comes you wont be overclocking? Surely you can overclock it for him? It really would give him a huge boost in performance and save money which can be spent elsewhere. Rember games like crysis are already saying 2.4ghz as minimum.

I really do sound like a sales man when i say that :)

Yeah I suppose I could, sorry not with it today, lol ;)

I thought those problems were way back when the GA 965P DS3 was on its first few BIOS revisions? I haven't heard of any problems since then and I've been recommending Gigabytes along with OCZ for a while now.

Same. I beleive it is just an old bios problem. Also i heard that some had a FBS hole where you had to overclock them slightly.

After much deliberation I have decided that this will be the new spec for my nephew's comp

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P
Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro
Corsair HX Series 520W Modular PSU

Cheers for all you help :)

Why sell your self short on the cpu cooler?

Also if you ordering best make sure you dont mind it arriving two days late. Ive been waiting for my keyboard since tuesday. The first excuse was taht id typed my post code with a 0 instead of an O. Which is obiously impossible to comprehend what letter it could be, even though ive been using taht post code for a while now and they never had trouble before. And now im going to let my dad ring up instead.
