Spec me up some fun (DC2?)

What do you mean by this? Even if it was a DC2 I'd only consider a fresh import, UK's are mostly miley or rusty or both, that's before mentioning the ugly front end.

Just worried I'l find a lemon without realising what I really need to check and look out for, especialy history wise. Naturally I'm a little worried although a guy in my village does have a DC5 so might pop around for a chat and hope he doesn't think I'm there for some TWOC :D

UK front end > JDM :p

DC2, obviously. JDM, obviously. 98 spec, obviously. With Mugen induction & twinloop, obviously.

:p

mind, your still looking at the best part of 6-7k for a decent one, which, considering it is a 10-12 year old car now, ain't exactly the best VFM.

Well I'm biased as I just bought a DC2 - it's frikkin' mint. I had a 280bhp Impreza before this and I must say that I really don't miss the power. The handling and fantastic rawness set's it apart from the other cars you have listed - but it's still relatively practical. Drive one and see what you think. You will need to spend £6-7k for a quality example though. And of course, the noise at VTEC is great. A real driver's car. ;)

Focus RS is an idea, but that TEG looks simply sublime!!!!!

Found a nice Teg on the forums but need to see if it's stilll available. Seems like plenty of cheap high milage cars around as well as some quite overpriced ones. But not too many really cared for examples in white.

S2000 as another car to consider, especially in the summer when driving becomes quite an event with the roof down.

Engineer, Kuro and S2000 - we could be twins :p

that TVR looks wrong :(

Indeed, poor Chim :( Still love a nice cheap Chim though :D

Lots of Teg love, especially hubba hubba at that Red JDM!

Simon, my ass is against the wall, I know your kind and didn't realise S2ks were that cheap ;):D

1. ITR DC2
Have always wanted a Teg and it is heading the pack at the moment. They are priced well, relatively cheap to insure and tax, plus still maintain some practicality with 4 seats and a boot bigger than a shoe box. Plus it won't be a bonkers step up from the sunny compared to some of the others on the list.

3.) Evo 7
Gaijins purchase initially set off my craving for a new car and I have always loved the 7. It is a 'weapon' of a saloon, but I'm just not sure it's me. Can't think of much else to say about it really, either negative or positive.

Both excellent "fun" cars but for different reasons. The DC2 is raw and on the edge, incredible fun to drive. Relatively easy to drive on the limit and very rewarding.

Stupidly expensive to tune and the return is minimal.

The Evo as i'm getting to grips with it, is just an animal. It's point and go. Endless amounts of grip and is just an incredibly fast car in all aspects of the word. Whilst tremendous amounts of fun, I don't think it involves the same amount of skill as the DC2 or a RWD car. Managing boost can be tricky and the AYC is certainly an interesting companion.

The evo will cost more to run in every sense and has far more potential to go wrong. Having a front diff, xfer box, centre diff, rear diff, AYC pump, and all the supporting gubbins does introduce a lot more stuff to go wrong, and it ain't cheap if it does.

Brakes on the DC2 will seem cheap as chips compared to replacing a set on the evo. The clutches on Honda's last very well due to zero torque syndrome whereas its the main punishment point in the drivetrain for the evo and not cheap to replace (From £300 for an entry level single plate option to £1100 for a decent twin plate).

Tuning wise, you'll get far more for your cash, but you'll need to support it.

It's worth mentioning that both the DC2 and evo suffer from oil surge.

Oh, and this thread is severely lacking a lotus option.

Dear Santa, could you please turn my car Milano Red? :(

Want!

I'd love to get one but i don't have a driveway and have to park on the street. Ive heard these have dreadful security and with them being pretty sought after i could see it getting pinched.

Will have to wait till i get my own place> Thats if they haven't all rusted away by then :(.
