Well I can't deny it War films' are awesome, I'm totally addicted to them. I love them in all shapes and forms.

Just got back from watching Valkyrie and it's a brilliant film once I got past the English speach German film barrier.

I've seen most of the known ones but I can't really find anything more (Enemy at the gates, Downfall, Band of Brothers, Platoon, Master & Commander, Saving private ryan etc).

So I'm really looking for more suggestions really.

Cheers

You want old ones too? If so, Algiers.

Do you mind foreign language? Blackbook and Female Agents are good.

I should have a few more but need to check a drive to see what I've got.

You have surely seen Full Metal Jacket? Apocalypse Now as well I guess.

I've not seen any of them which is why I'm trying to find out more to be honest :D, I love foreign films. I don't even mind Anime war films if their are any.

Since you specified 'all shapes and forms', I'll recommend "Empire of the Sun". Set during the second world war, it's the story of a British ex-pat boy living in Shanghai who becomes a prisoner of war when the Japanese invade.

Spielbergs finest film in my opinion, though it clearly isn't going to appeal to everyones taste.

Modern wise for me it has to be Black Hawk Down, great film.

I honestly thought this would be pap when it first came out and ignored it.

Watched it the other day, and wow, great film!

I ran a WWII thread recently and :

Two Men Went to War
The Last Drop
Enigma*
Cross of Iron
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas*
Zwart Boek (Black Book)*
Pride & Glory
Eichmann*
Katyn*
Flags of our Fathers
The Thin Red Line
Der Untergang (Downfall)*
Taegukgi - The Brotherhood of War*
Battle of the Bulge*

All these came up - *=deffo a good film.

What everyone else has said. Full Metal Jacket, etc, etc and:

Gallipolli (SP?)
Three Kings
Apocalypse Now
Hotel Rwanda
Deer Hunter

Dogs of War - (more mercenaries attack mugbabe type dictator thing) brilliant nonetheless it has Walken in it after all.

The two best in the last 10yrs for me have been Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down.

The Thin Red Line was for the majority, boring.
Flags of our fathers didnt do it for me either.
