Spec me - Washer, Dryer, or Washer Dryer + Freezer?

Hi folks,

Finally moved into my new place. I am looking to get a Washer or a Washer + Dryer --- plus a Freezer.

On the washer/dryer situation - I have a small utility that I could stack the machines. Is separate significantly better? I never used my previously washer dryer (integrated) as the capacity was so low and clothes just came out as hot balls of stank. I think drum size is critical to get a good dry? It is just 2 adults 1 child and normally need to a tonne of washing every 2/3 weeks. Potentially doing 1 major wash every 2 weeks would be time saving.

Secondly --- I have an undercounter fridge that has no freezer. I can either get a chest freezer/Liebherr undercounter and put it in the shed -- but that is a bit annoying; or potentially get a <600m freezer to go next to the aforementioned washer. Annoyingly when they built the utility they made it like 1.18m long :o

I may (in next 3 - 7 years) get an extension so need to balance spend with potential replacement if I go for integrated or a certain style in the future...

P.s. I get staff discount at Hotpoint/Indesit if they are not the devil --- my previous integrated stuff lasted 3 years without a single issue.

We've just changed our washer and despite thinking it was a bit gimmicky we went direct drive, well its a game changer for noise in the house :eek: 1400 spin is quieter than the water being pumped out.

No, I was the Quality Audit Technician for 27 years and when the Italians took over they were crap.
Also stay away from Creda, Ariston and Whirlpool, the same products.
If you can't afford Miele go for Samsung or LG.
 
A chest freezer is a great addition even if you get one in the kicthen. Great for keeping milk ,bread, surpluses supplies etc. We have one in the garage and use it all the time but still have an "everyday" freezer in the kitchen.

That's because they weren't part of the Merloni group.
Our labs also tested other makes of products and to be honest I've never heard of CDA or Lamona.
When I put Miele, Samsung and LG on tests you knew they were going to be OK, any other make and anything could happen on Fidatezza testing.
 
Washer driers do work, but you'll need to usually put them on a separate drying cycle (after a wash+dry cycle) to actually dry things.

I opted for Ikea for our stuff, price versus warranty seemed a no brainer, 5 year on most of their stuff.
And done even need the receipt as they go from manuafacture date on the serial :D

Even on stuff from bargain corner ;)

If its integrated does it really matter f theres a scratch or a dent lol

I do believe a lot of the ikea stuff to be Whirlpool as well

Our dries pretty damn well. It's an LG. I can put a wash & dry load on overnight and wear those clothes that morning. Sometimes really thick stuff like joggers or hoodies stay a little damp though.

If you have room for separate units then I'd recommend to go separate. But if you don't then a good washer drier isn't terrible.

I've never liked "Bush" stuff but that looks like a bargain. May be a consideration.

I have spent this morning looking at the billions of washing machines available. It is nothing like the old days where I could get next day without a second thought! I had a look at Miele's as I had always aspired to own one of these (I used to sell them about 12 years ago) -- but at £730 with only a 2 year, it made no sense.

Ended up getting a Samsung Series 5+ WW80T554DAN/S1. It is 8 kgs and connected. Turns out we have a Samsung employee network portal so got it for £424 instead of £480 most places --- and it reckons I will get it delivered tomorrow! (We'll see...)

Unfortunately no good on Fridge Freezers yet.

Yeah I always rated there stuff although I believed it to be Electrolux rather than Whirlpool?

Milk and bread in the freezer?? Seriously? The bread only becomes good for toast and even then it’s still a bit meh, milk I’ve never heard of going in the freezer.

Agree with the Samsung fridge/freezer though, they’re epic And Miele for everything else in the kitchen - although they don’t or at least the last time i checked do a built in washer.
 
We’ve got Beko for all our appliances apart from the fridge/freezer. Decent bang for buck and hasn’t let us down so far.
