You can pretty much just make up your own recipe.
one of my ex was great at cooking used to mostly buy the same vegetables then when it came time to cook.

cream sauce, cheese sauce, red wine sauce, tomato sauce, curry sauce.
choose one.

fry vegetables/steam them.

decide if your going pasta, rice, potatoes, savoury pancakes or whatever.
choose your meat.

experiment as you go and adapt your recipe until you've mastered it.

when your frying vegetables chuck in some white wine :D green beans are amazing that way

Real simple and delicious. Anchovy and broccoli pasta.

Per person (so just multiply quantities)

Pasta
1 small tin of anchovies in olive oil (that standard size you get in the UK)
1 medium broccoli, cut into the florets.
1 large clove of garlic.
1 red chilli, finely sliced (you choose variety and seeds in or out)
Parmesan
Lemon

In one pot, cook your pasta, I normally go for around 70g per person.
In the other pot, medium heat, bung in the anchovy with the oil from the tin, add finely grated garlic clove and sliced chilli. Sizzle till the anchovies break down into mush.
Add broccoli cut into florets, cook out, lid on, till pasta just cooked.
Drain pasta, add to broccoli, pasta will soak up any excess juice, squeeze in some lemon to taste and a bit of olive oil if it looks like it needs it.
Serve with parmesan grated on top.
