Spec me a system upto 2k, no need for mouse,keyboard speakers

out of that i want atleast 2x22inch dell lcds

itll be for gaming mainly,so best system for the cash left over once £470 has been took out for the dells

im willing to pay postage on top aswell :)

Will you be overclocking, and if so on air or water cooling? which OS will you be using?

i wont be overclocking, may do if the cash saved on cpu can be put to good use elsewere

i already have the os which is vista ultimate

looking at ideally a nice sli rig with a new core 2 duo cpu, either dual or quad, and 4 gig of ddr2 as its cheap at moment

ideally looking at 1500 for the tower maybe even £2000

Almost everything you have chosen is bettered by a cheaper alternative.

2900 - GTS OC 640MB
Themalright Ultra - Tuniq Tower
Samsung DVD - Pioneer 112
Arctic Ceramic compound - Arctic Silver
Infinity 720W - Corsair 620W

In fact the only two things that you got right were the case and the HD....
 
The cheapest 8800gts 640mb from a good brand is actually £12 more. Had it been a single card recommendation I might agree with you, but the 2900xt's in crossfire will outperform SLI'd 8800gts'.

The Tuniq tower is not a better performer.

I picked the samsung because they produce quieter drives.

The ceramique is £3 to the silver's £7 (like it even matters with a £1.5k budget?). It was chosen because it is non-conductive and therefore more user-friendly to work with.

The Infiniti is a fair bit more expensive yes, but to say it is a worse unit isn't true. It's not like jonny hands out 10's for performance every day of the week. Having 3 pci-express cables (1 8pin + 2 6pin) would also come in handy when going SLI/crossfire.

edit - He could drop down to the 650w Infiniti since it still has 52A on the 12v rails.

8 GiB RAM, GTXes in SLi, and an overclockable quad core all on a great motherboard.

It's 6.11 overbudget but I think you can swallow that. :)
 
Ditch the GTX's in SLI, GTS in SLI is almost exactly the same performance wise, theres a 1-5% increase for GTX's at a much higher price.

Maybe you could afford a Striker then or something silly for the motherboard. Instead of that one which I expect would have problems with the 4 sticks of RAM.

As mentioned above you could also get 2900's in Xfire, then you could get a P35 board aswell and get better performance all around.

8 GiB RAM, awesome motherboard, 2900 XTs in Crossfire, AAKSes in RAID 0, new fans for the Eclipse, a most excellent CPU cooler featuring a Peltier element, and an overclockable quad core processor. She's £1.38 overbudget.
 
Not sure the titan fits on that motherboard. Heatpipes would get in the way no?

I still stand by my spec, mainly because you downgraded you RAM which I feel would be more important than the cooler that won't make a huge difference.

You can also fit in 8gb of the blackdragon Giel @ only £14 overbudget which would OC well with the mobo. Or you could leave the RAM and get the 2 noctua case fans as suggested by Billy. The Akasa stock fans are quite good though I beleive.

Not sure why you downed the RAM, especially with a intel.

What a load of complete trash!

i) No point whatsoever SLIing 2900's. Either get a single GTX or a GTS 640MB! Also wtf are you on about 12 quid more expensive?! 2900XT is 323 - GTS 640MB is 264 and outperforms the 2900 in almost every test!

ii)The thermalright is 1 degree cooler - but 15 quid more expensive and also a lot noisier!!!

iii)Infiniti is an excellent brand, but far too expensive for what it is

i) There's plenty reason to put them in crossfire since their performance scales so well when you do so. As I said before, with only a single card the gts will be a better choice, but when you're going sli/crossfire, personally I think the 2900's are the way to go. Anyway let's see...the cheapest 8800gts 640mb is a leadtek at £234.99, the cheapest 2900xt is £234.99. Not so dissimilar after all.

ii) It's 2 degC cooler at load :p Oh and I don't get how you say the Thermalright is louder. The ultra-120 extreme is 38.3 dB at low and 39.8 dB at high. The equivalent speeds for the Tuniq give 38.3 dB at low and 48 dB on high. Subjectively that will be more than twice as loud...So yes, you pay £15 extra but it does carry advantages as a cooler.

iii) Fair point. It's about as overpriced as Seasonic's own brand supplies :)
