Spec me

Its looking more likely that i will again be employed less than a month after handing in my dissertation

I am getting the urge for an upgrade. My last full system build was back in 2007. This pc will be for gaming so what can you spec me for £1000.

I need:

CPU
mobo
ram
psu (current psu: corsair 620 watt. Is 4 years old so could be still used)
SSD (Just for Windows/games as have a storage drive)
soundcard
speakers
Graphics

i5 2500k 184.99
MSI P67A-GD65 £144.98 (then claim backwith msi the 20% vat)
4gb Geir or corsair 1600mhz dual channel £35.99
XFX ATI Radeon 6950 £224.99
Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB £102.12 ( swap out for something larger if you need)

That leaves you just over 300 pounds. So you can get some nice speakers and a soundcard, poissibly a new PSU ( antec true modular 650w ) or upgade to 8gb of ram

i will probably look for 8gb if dual channel

why does sandybridge cpus only support dual channel memory, surely this is a step backwards?

I will probably keep my existing sound card and psu. Just need a decent set of speaker now.
