Spec Me

This is what I've been thinking of!!

SSD will have to wait for more cash later on!

That's a great suggestion. What could you do on that basis?

I think the MM would be the better choice for the G/card, will bring the budget to £750 to mitigate that.

To be honest fella the gaming requirement isn't resource heavy is it? I still have a 1GB 460 (they OC well you can easily expect atleast 800Mhz from it), I won't change it till October time. I've had mine upto 900Mhz which has to be trading blows with a 6870, nice that being Nvidia it adds PhysX and CUDA too.

You are welcome to PM me if you want to discuss things in detail :)

*EDIT*

That B grade HDD is false economy really fella, for the sake of another few quid I'd rather have a new one with full warranty. I'd rather have a LED panel too, better blacks and power consumption

Agreed.

Also the 7850 at that price does not seem great "bang for buck" to me to be honest. If your going to be getting a GPU new I'd go for the B Grade 7950 at the same price or the 7850 1GB at £50 less.

Fair point, BUT the money from selling the games can then be pumped into getting an SSD or OS.

Yes, I'll have a look at the Monitor & HDD!

Edit:

Had a re-think and came up with this:

Windows 8 trial version for 3 months and trawl through the MM to find a copy of 7/8 as and when they become available.

Looks good, from a personal point of view, I'd go with 8GB ram (49.99) and 500w PSU (49.99), or the XFX 650w (64.99) if you felt the needs for a future proof PSU. Then use the money saved to get the 3.4 ghz CPU.

Another thing, it could be worth waiting to see what next weeks specials are, as there don't seem to be many this week.

Since one of my 660's have been RMA's I've even considered selling her the new one on return, and the otherone, then upgrading to a single 7970/770 instead.

Thats a great idea. :)

Nice new PC for her, great upgrade for you. :)
