Spec Me

Well I was gonna go for 4k, but with only 60 hertz models out currently I am gonna give that a miss and the Rog Swift is in my basket. I'm sure deals will change by my order date so will ask again on the day and see what you think is best going by the offers Stulid :) Have my mind set on the full build so looking forward to getting it all ordered.
How far off are the 4k 120/144 hertz screens?

I have to put off ordering my parts till the 24th now :(, I got the date wrong for payday like a simpleton haha. A friend has been telling me just to buy 2 980ti's and a good monitor and keep the rest of my current rig, What do you think of that idea Stulid?
Using a 2600k and z68 is just feeling too old for me.

Your Friend makes a good point. The i7 2600K is still a very good cpu. You could always buy everything apart from the cpu/board and ram and try it first. If you don't like how it performs then you can go ahead and buy the X99 cpu, board and ddr4 ram.

You qualify for free delivery so it won't cost you any extra in postage.

Started getting my bits together, ordered these below. The cooler i wanted was out of stock so picked up an older H100i off amazon, i hope that cooler is alright? The cable extensions i wanted had some out of stock too, so will get them when they are back. The PSU below is to be used on my old pc, my older HX850 will be used on my new pc.

Overkill CPU as you're not even going full watercooling and tbh you just game.

That PSU is cheap and nasty, it amazes me people who cheap out on quite literally the most important component in a rig. Spend more on a Superflower Platinum or the likes.

32GB of RAM is useless for games, you won't even use half of that now, the other half will just be untouched and you'll gain nothing, not even extra frames or speed, just a waste of money. I know you're only buying it to fill slots (that's just silly). Go 16GB if you need to and put the rest of the money towards a better PSU. Also 2666mhz RAM, you'll be gaining nothing in games.

:)

:)

You dont know what I paid for the cpu, believe me for the price its not :) The psu is a replacement for my old pc. Im using my old one on new. The psu im using is my older HX850 v2 which is plenty.

That PSU is crap for such a high specd rig, you're spending hundreds and hundreds on a CPU and GPU and then getting a run of the mill PSU, that's cheap and quite frankly entry level.

You know best though Lee lol, can't say I've not helped you as much as I can.

Cool, goodluck :)

You've got the 'I need to buy the best bug', I get that, but at least gain something from doing it.

I'd still be swapping out the PSU if it was me, as the PSU is a fundamental and most important part to any build.

You should be going full loop with that CPU, as it's an enthusiast chip. It's crazy to only be using an AIO.

My other point(s) still stand.

How much did you pay for the CPU?

Can't talk about prices from other places, sorry mate :)

Alarm bells should be ringing? no. I got a cracking deal off someone I know thats all. Once it's built post some pics, need to find some extension cables now. Just spoke to a few people and they say my HX850 will be enough for the build :)

You could have bought the EVGA P2 850W for £124 and used it in your new rig, and keep the HX for your other pc.

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA SuperNova P2 850W '80 Plus Platinum' Modular Power Supply £124.99
Total : £134.59 (includes shipping : £8.00 Ex.VAT).

The one im getting will be plenty for my old rig, the overclock will be turned off and it will just be used for the internet for the mrs. I prefare corsair PSU's also, their customer service is fantastic. Looking forward to getting it all together now :) thanks for the help and advice along the way Lee.

It seems a bit of a shame to use an old psu on a £2.8K build though :D

If you prefer Corsair then the RMi is the newer version of the RM, and it is so much better. It has 100% Japanese caps and a 7 year warranty, and is only £3 more than the RM.

Anyway good luck with the new build :)

My stuff so far, waiting on more before i start my build.
