Spec my friend a headset

Hi all,

A friend of mine has a Corsair Vengeance 1500 headset but he is looking for a new one as it is wearing out.

This time around looking for headset for £70 and a sound card.

Used for gaming 90% of the time plus a broad range of music- mostly rock, indie rock, and dance/club.

Greatly appreciate a couple of suggestions, thanks.

Xonar DG is the obvious choice for the card. If they really want a headset, I can recommend, if you can find them, some Creative Labs HS-980. The drivers are the same as in the Creative Aurvana Live headphones. They are hard to get though as they have stopped making them.

Alternately, they could get some Panasonic RP-HTF600E-S headphones and a clip-on mic. Well within budget.

I fear my friend will complain about the ear cups being too small on that panasonic unit, but thanks for all the help. I was kinda thinking DG, clip-on mic and headphones as thats what i do and it works wonders.
