Yeah, looking at Fabia/Ibiza style cars with DSG, however I have a feeling she won't like the look :p:(

The thing I've found about the Skoda Fabia is they seem to be roomier on the inside than the Polo, and the engines are tuned much better. We've had a couple of Fabia's as our family car, but really it's because the wife drives it to work every day and she loves them. They are great little cars, and the TSI engines in the recent models are what make them a bit special.

I had a look and can find the 1.2 TSI Monte Carlo spec for less then £13k.

That's with less than 5,000 miles and 16 plate.

She said she likes the look of it, guess I'll have to get her down to a dealer to look at one from up close.

Make sure you drive the 105 PSI version. The Monte Carlo is supposed to have a harder ride because it comes with low-profile sports tyres. They look a bit like a larger version of what the Mini used to look like a few years back with the flattish roof.

My wife's got the standard Fabia version with the 1.2 TSI 105 PSI, and it's a lot of fun for a little car. The engine is just great, and when that little turbo kicks in, it's got some whoosh to it.
