So his requirements are ,

Around 6k,
'fun'
4 seats
~Max 10 years old
Low-medium mileage

He is currently looking at the mk 2 Audi tt, or a 650 (I'm trying to dissuade him from that one). Any other options.

Can you get a decent 650i for that budget? That's one of the cars which appears have held in value. Or it's just the oldes look like such terrible prospects (dodgy sellers, black rims, too many owners etc) that you're at 9-10k before you find a decent one and then that's just too much money for one of them.

Lol, a small sporty car or a large cruiser.. Bit of a difference there. And his requirement is "fun". I think only he can make the decision as to what he wants; all you're going to get in this thread is people spouting off random cars they like.

Yes, and a GT86, and a couple of other cars with stupid back seats. The people up front just have to sacrifice a little bit of their own leg-room, and your shins are pressed into the back of their seat. :D

But it works! :p

Forgot about the 200 RS, also a good shout.

FN2 at 6k is very achievable, they've dropped a bit in the past year or so. Average around 70-80k mileage for that price range.
My friend just picked one up for £5250 which was in exceptional condition with 70k miles.

If the GT86 is anything like the BRZ (I imagine it is), there's no way anybody is sitting in the rear. There was about an inch of legspace behind the drivers seat once my seat was in position and I'm only 5'11.

Same could be said for the passenger side unless front passenger has very short legs and can sit very far forward :p

Its do-able, I've done it. :p

It just means the people in the car are all in various states of discomfort! :D

Not practical at all of course, I'm just being a pedant I suppose... But I think you could live with it if you only use the rear seats very occasionally, and not for long journeys.

I drove my Corolla from Dudley to Brighton with the seat jammed almost in the fully forwards position... My knees were nearly touching the dashboard... You wouldn't have to go quite to that extreme. ;)

Hes set on a 3.2 tt (mk 2 i think, 2008). He needs rear seats as his misses is due in may. I suspect he will get stuff in the back ok but struggle when child is older. I suggested everything here so far and just got a nope to everything. He's a bit set in his ways.

Nothing wrong with a 3.2 TT really, loading a kid into the rear seat will be a bit of a PITA though, but at least legroom won't be an issue for a while!

Make sure you can actually fit a child seat in properly though......

He will be getting it/whatever he gets soon as he has just sold his current car. I think rear space will be fine, hes a bit of a short arse anyway, so probably fit an adult in there:D.

Tbf a TT is a pretty refined place to sit, you can pick up speed so easily in it without realizing, i found myself looking down at the speedo in shock because it was so planted it felt like i was doing 30. So in terms of driver experience the gap between a tt and 6 series probably isn't really that vast. I'd say i had more fun in a 6 as i liked that muscle car feel with the back end squatting slightly
