I'm going to leave socket 939 and finally upgrade to C2D. I'm going to be selling on my X2 4400+ on eBay to get some money back, so I'm going to have £600-£700 to upgrade.

I have:

PSU
Hard Drives
Case
Audigy 2 (is an upgrade worth it?)

and I need:

CPU + 3rd Party cooler
Mobo
RAM
GPU (Anything but GTX - won't fit in case and I'm not disfiguring my Hard Drive bay :P)

Looking to play games with eye candy on a 22" WS Monitor. Will be running Vista!

Overclocking wise- not really looking to OC much, but I'll put a slight OC on the CPU so that will come into it.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sub Total : £521.95

Total : £623.81

and with the extra £80 or so you could get another 2GB RAM if your running Vista but its not essential for gaming. tell us how you get on.

That was almost the exact spec I came up with myself. :)

I don't think the Noctua will fit in my case, I've got a Super Lanboy. I've heard good things about the Zalman coolers though, are they a good idea?

Thanks very much.

Seconded, very nice spec for someone not looking for an extreme oc.

The Noctua is fine.

The Ballistix PC5300 is on special offer this week which is actually cheaper than the Giel stuff ( ) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-088-CR

It will clock to the 800MHz with ease along with the CPU and its cheaper :)
