there's one blue led fan on the front that isn't very bright tbh and you can always swap the fan out if that bothers you, it's a very good case

You'll have to get top fan for the cm690 so not much saving after all, maybe 25quid max if you get cheap fan.

Or most likely something even better but then you're looking at 120-130+ budget.
Case is one of those things that are worth getting better since you can keep them for future upgrades, a good case will last you ages and give you more possibilities, also will have better cooling and be more silent than the 30-40quid jobbies.

Main reason I suggested the Antec 300 originally was to keep the system close to £1000 and including an i7. 
But yeah as others have said go for something a bit nicer if you're saving money elsewhere. The Gigabyte i5 motherboard that Phoenix suggested seems decent for the price.
