Right folks, I've got £200 to spend on a new motherboard, CPU and ram, I'm still on socket 939 so I want an upgrade, I've been looking at this bundle

I've always been an AMD man but could be tempted over to Intel, so anyone know if there is a better option to that bundle?

Looks goof to me.

I used to be an AMD lover after Intel made a mess of the coppermine chipset 7 or 8 years ago, I moved back over to Intel 2 years ago and never moved back, although I have been tempting to build a Rig with AMD for gaming.

thats an intel bundle you could get, id probably go with this, not really an amd fan

I would swap the OCZ in that to something else, Asus and OCZ doesent usually mix togheter well.

Hmm...I have heard people say that before, nothing concrete though.

I guess you could change it for some Kingston.

I've been looking at the memory forum and heard bad things about OCZ ram, might swap that for some kingston.

Is there much difference between Intel and AMD these days?

Ive been using Asus p5k mobo and ocz ram together for over a year, and have had not 1 problem, but suppose can be different for others

was AMD fan until i got sold on the idea of the E8400

Just thought id try give some reassurance there if you did decide.

my spec is E8400 @ stock
Asus P5k mobo
4Gb ocz ram
BFG 285 oc2 GTX
and poss the best rig ive ever had.

I am currently using an Asus P5E and used to have a P5K premium which both killed any sets of OCZ i put in them, i later sold the P5K but my P5E is running 4x1Gb GSkill fine without any problems.

Biggest difference there has ever been, intel like Mike Tyson and amd like Amir Kahn. Amd only doing well on the low end

Quick question, if I went with that Intel bundle above, and got the kingston ram instead will I be able to run the ram at 1066 as the CPU has a FSB of 800?

Yep, you may need to manuly setup the speed in the BIOS.
