I fancy building a gaming pc for under £500. I have keyboard and monitor etc, so I would only need the base unit and os. Has anybody got any ideas?

Many thanks Tony

Welcome to the forums, this is just about on the budget, if you needed to you could either wait for the OcUK 3850pro to come into stock or buy a smaller hard drive. Using Windows XP instead is another option but you couldn't then use over 4gb of Ram. :)

Would that be any good for playing Wolfenstein Enemy Territory? I need the same sort of price/spec for my uncle.

I'm assuming here you are talking about the game released a few years back for free? In which case it is amply sufficient because that system ought to play almost any game released very well indeed. :)

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory requirements:

600 MHz CPU, 128 MB RAM, 32 MB OpenGL graphics card, 56.6k Modem/LAN

So yes it will :P

If you mean quake wars enimy territory:
* Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 2800+ processor
* 512 MB RAM (768 MB RAM for Windows Vista)
* 128 MB NVIDIA Geforce 5700 or ATI Radeon 9700 with OpenGL 2.0 drivers
* 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
* 5 GB of free hard drive space, plus 700 MB for Windows swap file

So yes easily again :)
