Current owners, perspective may be changed due to angle. 50 inch I think.

Sky+HD
Netflix
Amazon prime
Plan to be streaming local high quality content.

Can people link some good bargains / recommended TVs

Looking around 50-65 inch, preferably the sweet spot for IQ and size.

.is this worth getting?http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/son...roid-tv-479-98-costco-2411496?page=5#comments

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-KD-49X8307C-49-inch-UltraHD-Freeview/dp/B00VOAMS5A let down by android tv, it does have an upscaler.

Is this the 1 to go for? http://www.johnlewis.com/panasonic-...etime-freeview-hd-and-built-in-wi-fi/p1929846

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4558912.htm#pdpProductReviews seems a steal of a price? Have chromecast/amazon firetv so shouldnt be an issue?

Thanks for the reply, looks like I'm taking out either big bang Virgin package or fibre plus big family package with sky. Gf absolutely must have pause rewind and record options.

Is there an alternative to paying sky/Virgin this?

Can you record freeview and how?

Ok so as these threads usually go, ignore all the advice provided j/k

I managed to get an excellent deal with the
sky family package (All tv except movies/sports) £0
Unl fibre bb (40) £10/20
Line rental £11.31

£21.31 pm for 6 month then
31.31 pm for the remaining 6 month.

So now I have installation for Wed...

As I can get a 4k TV for just a little bit more than 1080p will it always look better?
I have read reviews 4k tvs playing sd can look very bad due to poor upscaling. (Do they mean worse than 1080p tvs?) Hows that possible with more pixels per inch?

So im kitted with the above:
Chromecast
Fire TV Stick
I need a DVD/BLURAY player and then speakers?
Any other hardware that would be useful? external storage or something to play my files across the network? is this possible?

Makes sense, thanks for that information :)

So if I'm planning to use HD / 1080P / 4K content then it would be better for a 4k TV on the higher quality content.

It will rarely be used to SD/HD tv as thats all the G/F will use. I will mainly be streaming very high quality sources :) Netflix, Amazon prime etc

Whats the best /easiest way to play external content that netflix/amazon doesnt have such as local .AVI files etc?

We could always mount the TV above the fireplace but than could make it awkard angle/problems with conecting stuff wouldnt it?

The room cant really be moved around.

Completely understand that begbie, afterall its justifcation of the money they spent. Its likely to be either glorified or horrible as they had a problem so want to report it.

It was through purchasing their fridge but I think if you called them direct they may match it.

This was the original deal, i extended on it as I got a friends code. (1 off)

For startes its 1080p and still £479. - Philips is the same price at more pixes and upscaling, granted theres nothing to compare panels but nothing such as FALD or OLED is mentioned etc so they will be similar?
It was 2hdmi and 1 usb port, seems extremely on the low side.
Its also 5 inches smaller?

Thats just a quick summary.

Feel free to post more options, put simply I have to purchase tonight and would rather get a nice recommendation which some info to back it up.

I have around £300-700 to spent but want the best value for my money which seems size tbh.

Watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RodCjVf-5AE puts it nicely into context.

Like I said its relative, I have 2k to spend but Im not going to spent 2k on a tv as thats silly money, theres such thing as diminishing returns.

Its like getting 300fps and then 125fps, some games may make a difference but it doesnt warrant spending £3k on a gpu if it plays the same spending £200.

I wouldn't like to spend more than £1k if im honest but from my own research 500-700 seemed to be around the bang per buck.

Ive read mixed feedback through john lewis and warranty on truspilot etc.

You have posted different reviews to the tvs you have linked?
2 reviews for different model tvs and then posted a link to buy different brand/models? Is this by accident?

The sony is an extra £140 over the hisense and granted is has similar ports / smart etc but its only 1080p and still LED so how are the colours any better? How can you justify spending more for "less/similar tv?"

Sorry if I have missed the mar, reading the reviews as I type.

Edit - thanks for the info about those panels, I was never considering those cheap 1080p options, it was just to put them into context as you mentioned 1080p not being that different, FALD and OLED is the only color differnce I can tell.

On monitors I can tell the difference between IPS and older ones etc viewing angles colours, its makes sense but if they are are LCD/LED.

Ok im in an agreement I dont need 4k and it will be about the panel colours so now about budget as like I stressed I must buy today :)
I stand corrected it is the same model: 55W805CBU I will get this unless anyone can think of something better?
To clarify its worth paying more for less pixels, same panel type and smaller screen size?

http://www.johnlewis.com/sony-bravi...2b1e6a2&s_kwcid=402x352523&tmad=c&tmcampid=73

So as the backlighting is also LED.

I dont understand how the sony I posted earlier is any different it seems to be 1 model below but has the same features but for £479?

Ok thanks for all the info above and for bearing with me, is http://www.johnlewis.com/lg-55ec930...3_1458413588_fe40fc64bed303cb7ed3cc3b55941c28 out the picture or worth spending double? To me surely it cant be worth double? (Trying to put it into perspective)

Ok so we have established the sony is the best buy for £700 price range, fine im happy with that.

What about £1000 what is the next best buy in that price range?

Thanks again for all the help.

To put it into perspective, like I said I can afford it - but I'm cheap lol.

If there is a noticable difference then I dont mind spending the extra money.

Unfortunately I suffer from buyers remorse more than getting something average and missing out on a top product for a lot of money.

If I spent £1300 and bought a TV for the bedroom at £700 and had them side by side I would be gutted if the difference wasnt that big.

So like I said, affording it isnt the problem, its getting "value"

EDIT - Thanks for that info, so is the OLED worth £300 more?

Even though it seems entry level? Just doing some research on AV forums, seems newer OLEDS are coming and the price could significantly drop? but dont know when or ohw much ofcourse.

I do get it but IMO spending that on a rolls is hideous. Even if I couldnt afford it I wouldnt, get something practical and quickish for road use like a seat leon fr ha :D

I have, they do look good and certainyl pop but I dont know if I would say its worth that much more to me.
