Spec us a multiplayer game...

Yeh, we've got out eyes on that... Only problem with that though is it's aimed at more than 4-5 people...

Arma2 will be all you guys need ;) It is aimed at any number of people you want. Get the Steam release, create a voice chat channel for your group, then hit a co-op server and stick together. Ignore everyone else and just venture off! You could host your own private missions too (make them for yourselves) or play the campaign in co-op. However, the SP campaign is 4 player max.

The possibilities will be endless in Arma2. I plan on hosting comical private servers with mates where there will be two teams - hunters and the hunted! The hunted will get a 10 min headstart and run off into the woods. The hunters will then go after them lol. This sort of thing is just what mp is all about.

The original ArmA was amazing even with two players, so more is a bonus and great fun.

SWAT4 co-op is excellent, despite being really old. CoD4 is good for 15 minute warmup deathmatch lulz. CoD5 is good for 15 minute zombie slaying co-op panic-attack hilarity. System Shock 2 is excellent proper co-op but only supports four players IIRC.

Yeh, we've got our eyes on Arma2... But we won't be buying it off of $team that's for sure. It's 50% more expensive than actually having a box, manual and DVD shipped to your door!!!!

Still the best multiplayer FPS on PC :p

Some of the other guys in our group have played it (BF2) but found it annoying due to servers having too many people who dedicated their life to the game, therefore new the maps inside out etc... So you didn't really stand a chance...

I suppose the extra cost for the Steam release will put many off. It's just that for me I can't go back to the old way of discs and boxes now. You also get all the Steam features that really help MP and make it feel like XBL. Invites etc.

Well, to save 33% off the Steam price seems good to me. And from what other posters have said, is you can still update the game from within it just as if you'd ordered it from Steam... ie: No difference...

Can someone confirm that?

Correct on both counts.

I think by default it may only support 4 people but a quick play with the settings allows you to enable up to 8 player (iirc).

It's an amazing mod, especially if you're an Aliens fan :)

Got it... When you host a game, you can say (in server settings) how many player you want to permit, eg: 5.

When I start a hosted game, keep in mind I'm the only one at the moment, it still only give me a total of four troops?

If four other humans joined, I assume all five of use could pick a soldier?

ie: So we can DEFINATELY have five of us playing at once?

Right my suggestions (coz im slow and behind)

Civ4 maybe (though 5 playing single player and all getting into it is quite funny)

We play a lot of CSS and DoD source (dod as a one on one game is HILARIOUS! well really really tense)

AoE2 is also a classic between 4-5 people :D

If you like Left 4 Dead, you might like Serious Sam in coop. It's a bit older and a lot more simplified but fun none the less. I was playing this just yesterday and it's still as good as it ever was. I can't speak for the sequel, but I suspect that is more of the same.

If you've not heard of it, it basically involves running around huge levels shooting what seems like sometimes an unending group of enemies. A bit like Painkiller if you've played that.

And 4-5 of you can play it in co-op?

Knowing the maps is only half the challenge and shouldent realy stop you haveing loads of fun, it is by far the most fun you can have on a PC to date.

Spec Ops: Place you C4 on a Jeep or Truck, jump in, drive as fast as you can to the opposition and crash into them, jump out and dettonate. BOOOOM! totaly anoys the hell out of the opposition hehe.

Just look on You tube for Battlefield 2 - The Pwn3d Life. hehe ;) This video is what got me playing.

I'm sure when I was setting up a server yesterday (admittedly it was a LAN listen one but I don't see why it would be any different over the net) that you could set the number of players to 15 maybe 16! I've only tried with 2 though.

If you want to I believe there is even the possibility of having more than one player per PC! I'm guessing that's only suitable though if you have people using joypads. :p
