Specin' new PC, but the soundcard?...

Howdy,

I'm posting questions in the related areas to get the info I need before I spend £1,000+ on my new rig.

I have specd' the cheap Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 Soundcard - OEM (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SC-049-CL&groupid=701&catid=11&subcat=) but was wondering if that was worth it, when I could stick with my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS that I have in my Current PC?

So my question is, shall I stick with my audigy over the above, Or is it worth spending the extra dough on the Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 7.1 Soundcard - OEM (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SC-051-CL&groupid=701&catid=11&subcat=)

I don't mind spending the extra quid, but I don't want to if its not worth it?

The PC will be a gaming rig, but will be used mainly for work (I work from home) and whilst working I listen to a lot of MP3s.

Any help will be appreciated!

Hi , Depends on the speakers you have , if you have cheap £40 speakers then it doesnt really matterBut Its worth getting the better card as it will help the game, Maybe some Frames per second or 100% compatable

Never ever use Speakers, sorry.. I should have mentioned.

I only use headphones with my PC, and they are Sennheiser HD590's which cost me £140 when I bought them... they are about £80-£100 now, so they are pretty good headphones!

Hi , then the better sound card will do you better , Although Creative have got a better solution of making the sound much better:

Creative Xmod X-Fi External Sound Card Around the same price, What it does in enhances the sound quality , You can see all the details and webby . There spose to be very good.

Thanks Jay, Ill go for one of them 2.. prob the internal one though... don't fancy having that external jobbie lying around!
