Hi guys, the noob is back for more help

right now Im using my MoBo Sound & some unknown brand of cheap 5.1 Speakers i picked up years ago (which are dying) so I'm looking to get some new speakers & a sound card (if recommended) for Listening to Music & Watching Movies, (for Gaming I always use my Sennheiser PC 360 headset), I also like to play the guitar through the PC (currently Im just using an adapter to plug it into my MoBo), Im also using an adapter so that I can have my Headset & Speakers plugged in at the same time (speakers are turned on/off by a remote, also I have a bad habit of using the Subwoofer as a foot stool so I need something strong without easy to adjust buttons on the front/top )

thanks for posting (although I don't have a budget those speakers seem a little expensive, for the amount of time I would be using speakers I wouldn't really wanna go over say £100 - £150 for them)

Hi david thanks for posting.

I think for the soundcard im defiantly leaning towards an ASUS (I had a Creative SB card years ago & ran into allot of problems with its drivers/support) plus my current MoBo is an ASUS Rampage IV GENE & im very happy with it

Im a big fan of Logitek and for the money you will find it hard to beat the Z506

^^ Yeah that'll support an analogue 7.1 surround sound out.

Don't think that one has an amp though.

The speakers have a built in amp.

thanks for continuing to help guys, sorry if this is a retarded question but if I were to go for the STX card & plug in my headset would I be able to setup surround sound for the speakers through the MoBo sound inputs or would there be some kind of conflict/problems in doing that :S

I doubt it but not sure, just by a decent sound card that will do both.

You can use onboard audio as well as a sound card. I and plenty of people have always done it with no issues. You will need to swap between them in the Windows sound properties though.
