Does anyone know if the average speed cameras around Bristol/cribbs causeway are active, or of any sites where I can find out?

Where is this? I do the Cribbs Causeway M5 M4 route back and fourth home so have they been newly put up? I aint seen anything recently!

Yes they must have been put up fairly recently as I didnt see them the other day.
They are junction 17 of the m5. I think they are both north and south. I think I may have been caught Northbound.

They weren't there last weekend but I have been staying in Bristol all week so do not know exactly what day they want up but they are there today. J17-18
Hang on, it says North Bound on that link.... but they are on the South Bound carriage too.... hmm. I don't think they are active because there were no "Average Speed Camera" signs anywhere, and they were getting cones ready for something. Maybe they have cameras on both carriageways so that they can move some of the north bound traffic onto the south bound carriageway?
Imagine what it's going to be like on the M5 on a friday afternoon now.

like the cameras will make a difference. the traffic is either slower than the limit or at best a touch faster.
They have them on the M4 Coldra now in South Wales..booo

i see so many people driving fast all the way along here (outside of rush hour of course) in both directions, i really dont think these are on.
i've been getting a lift the last 3 days along this stretch and the driver wasnt going slow, so will know soon if they are hehe
Well seeing that the work is on the Northbound carriageway and they have the two inside lanes of the Southbound carriageway setup with SPECS, I assume that they will be pinching a lane, like they did when they did the Southbound carriageway....?
You're right though, you can't get much worse than 0mph.

you can usually see a red glow from the outer bits if they are live
I didnt think they were active, then one day I seen the guys lying purple pipe (im assuming this is the cabling). They are still on show though, where they could be burried so I dont think they are live. Still wouldnt put my trust in other drivers though just because they are going fast.lol

Don't actually have to go that fast. The limit is now 50 all the way from the Coldra to J30.
Im assuming that they are going to be pushing on the rollout of these average cams then? seeing as they are more effective with *** raping cash out the public.

Not many people take notice of that 50mph (for safety purposes..) limit regardless of the cameras tbh.
