Speed Bumps everywhere

Surely it's so the councils can force people to buy a 4x4, and then they can tax them for it, either with increased road tax, congestion charging, ect! Thats why there seems to be the war on the 4x4, it's not a climate thing, it's a money thing! :)

That would be a sight to see :D

The pallets collapse, and assuming the trailer curtains don't burst, they end up bulging so much you can't see anything bar bulging curtains in your rear mirrors!

It is quite a sight, not as much as the load coming through the curtains mind you!!!

Hi, there are everywhere in my town, however I just love overtaking the chavs wth lowered suspensions trying to avoid taking off the waste bins they call exhausts...
Chris

Except most lowered cars are nasty kidney killers on a B-Road as well :)

This is true actually. Mine is a hoot to drive on a decent road, but so many of them round here are broken up, potholed, or just too undulating to be any fun, and mine isn't even all that raw!

4x4s aren't taxed more.

Those pillow ones are really annoying, I have to go 2 wheels over the middle of it at about 2mph or it scrapes something chronic. I tore a hole in the sump a couple of weeks ago so now i'm super paranoid about them.

i h8 speed humps :S there some rd here i carnt even get over :( i have to do a 3 piont turn and go back

I hate them. They are pointless. If a road is a 30mph limit, then I should be able to drive down that road at 29.9mph without damaging my car.

If you want me to drive at 15mph, then change the ****ing limit to 15mph and put up a speed camera!

Actually... would there be any comeback if a speed hump damaged your car and you were driving at the correct limit for that road? I presume not. I mean... how's it allowed for them to put things up that damage your car when you're driving within the speed limit they have deemed acceptable?. Stupid stupid stupid. Grr.

annoying thing around here, is, for 7weeks the main road past my house was SHUT due to gas main work, so they sent all the traffic through another town center...

...however in response to a massive increase in traffic, they've stuck speed bumps down the road through that "other" town center.... ffs the road was only used loads while the main road was shut! Sigh

Not too bad where I live, just as well really seeing as a decent pot hole has the spitter bottoming out. Managed a few speed bumps without scraping but I have to be rather slow.

My totally unlowered Capri has a job getting over some of the local ones around here. There are some where my mum used to live and i always had to crawl over them or drive down the middle of the road between them, i ended up getting really fed up of holding traffic up whenever i went over.

Solution - floor it upon exiting the speed ramps and then slam the brakes on for the next set further up the road in the hope of making it over them before the other car being driven more sensibly catches up.

Irresponsible? Probably.

When driving the Prelude and the now mr-2 I have to slow right down for them and whats more annoying is the people behind getting irratted/headlight flashing/tailgating etc...

As a passenger in other cars I'm amazed how they just glide over some of them... even at quite high speed. Makes one think whats the point.

IIRC the legal limit for them is 75cm high, if the council has made them higher you can force them to adjust/remove them, if an illegal one damages your car you would have a case.

On the other hand, those ones are perfect for motorbikes because you can go through the gaps :)
