Hi

Speed Camera vans. I may have been caught speeding last night as a speed van was at the side the road, now I have a couple of questions.

I may have been over the limit by 5-8 miles on a 30 road (but not 100% sure as I wasn't looking at my speedo. The van was in the position drawn here.

Will the camera have been point towards my car, or the traffic on the other side of the road.

Also do you lose your license in every case if you get 6 points in the first 2 years of passing? This will be my first 3 points since passing my driving test, but I have 3 points which are less than 2 years old, from my motorbike license.

yes if you get 6 points within the 2 years of having your license you get your license removed and have to do it all again. Plus do you know if there were any warning signs stating that there was a camera been used?

No warning signs AFAIK. And technically, if I get 3 pts from this, then I will only have 3 points SINCE obtaining my full driving license, 3 were prior to this.

if he didnt have a sign out then im sure that he cant give you a fine and points cause all speed cameras have to state that they are there. Even if theyre not. My dad got court with 1 and it didnt have a sign out and was on the other side of the road and somehow he got away with it. It was 2 years ago but if you ask around you might find that you dont have to pay the fine and get the points.

Somehow, i've had a friend who got 6 points on his license within the first two years, yet the Police/DVLA haven't said anything about it other than the fine... he still has his license, how's that even possible?

Back OT:
It would be highly likely that the van was covering both sides of the road, i think that your previous 3 points will go towards the total 6 since they're only two years old, just got to hope for the best :(

You might be lucky, as far as i know its within 2 years of getting your first license, how long have you had your bike license?

No warning signs AFAIK. And technically, if I get 3 pts from this, then I will only have 3 points SINCE obtaining my full driving license, 3 were prior to this.

Doesn't matter - you cant go up to 6 points in the first 2 years since passing your car license I'm afraid.

The camera is usually at the back of the van and as such you wouldn't have been caught, at least that's what I've seen.

This is cobblers. Whatever the reason your dad got off, it was not because the van did not have signs.

Camera are at the back of the Van
so as you were comming towards it, it would be scanning you and it doesent matter what side of the road the van is positioned

I got caught by the one that parks just below a gatso near menheniot. waiting for the letter to come, theres a fixed speed camera sign there, but no mobile ones.

nearly been done by the one that parks on a bridge near plympton too. sneaky ******!!

speaking of which im waiting for a letter as we speak :(

going up the A5, nice wide road, clear as day etc, my satnav beeped to tell me a camera up ahead, after that spot i over took a van so sped up to 80 whilst doing so , my sat nave beeped again and just going past this van, i could see a speed van not too far away :(
