too true

i rember early this year, i got to the top of the hill, and just started to going down and there was one waiting, i was probabally 20 mph orver and didnt get nicked, i was lucky!

speaking of which im waiting for a letter as we speak :(

going up the A5, nice wide road, clear as day etc, my satnav beeped to tell me a camera up ahead, after that spot i over took a van so sped up to 80 whilst doing so , my sat nave beeped again and just going past this van, i could see a speed van not too far away :(

If it was 80 indicated, you should be OK... but if it was 80 on GPS, you'll probably be getting that letter :(

These vans are so sneaky, just like the police in cars pointing a speed gun at you! Near me there is a huge hill the road is a good half mile, the drop is huge and guess what? You get the sneaky police men parking up and nicking a lot of people doing around 35+ (30 limit) very sneaky to catch people coming down a huge slope!!!

The legalities of it, as far as I'm aware, is that they have to be visible for the council to get the money from the fine. But it's an absolute offence, so even if they're not visible, you'll still be done - the money will just go to the government instead of the council if you complain that they weren't visible.

I'd agree with that.

I saw the one that got me on the M4 from over 1km away, hit the brakes and cruised towards it. It got me at 102mph, in the pics you could see the Mondeo was on it's nose under heavy braking. They have a really good range on them.

Can do you from about 1.5Km.

Slippage and accuracy at this range is however debatable. Does not matter though, once gunned and they have a reading you are guilty until proven innocent. Your chances of proving that? Nil.

Oh well, lets keep my fingers crossed. What proof do they have about who the driver is?

Ie. Could a relative/friend take the hit on the 3 pts if they state they were driving my car?

Their proof is your legal obligation under Section 172 of the Road Traffic Act to provide details of who the driver is. You are probably in the picture as well.

If you both want to be done for Peverting the Course of Justice instead of a speeding ticket, sure

Chance of the Laser having the camera add-on attached to it, whether you are identifiable by it though is another matter.

It is just fingers crossed time that you were slow enough / they weren't set up.

Otherwise, to put it bluntly, you've been caught speeding, and will have to suffer the consequences.

if he didnt have a sign out then im sure that he cant give you a fine and points cause all speed cameras have to state that they are there. Even if theyre not. My dad got court with 1 and it didnt have a sign out and was on the other side of the road and somehow he got away with it. It was 2 years ago but if you ask around you might find that you dont have to pay the fine and get the points.

Your talking rubbish again - displaying a speed camera warning sign is merely a guideline not a requirement.

And this is just depressing.....

Question. I was in the car with a mate who was speeding at about 80-85 on the motorway. We were travelling with a flow of probably 10 cars all doing the same speed and there were also others overtaking at 90+ on the outside.

Do you reckon they would just fine them all?

I'd agree with that.

Can I ask what the outcome was ?

To answer the first point they will have a snapshot of the driver.

Secondly, it would be a fool who chose that path. If convicted of attempting to prevert the course of justice you will get time, even if it's a first offence. That goes for anyone who takes the hit for you as well. Is it worth it bearing in mine job prospects, career etc ?

APCOJ is not a conviction you want and an HMP establishment that someone with a job and a family to support is the last place you want to be.

Don't do it !
