speed camera

What are the big black boxes with only a tiny red light?

Deathstar, tbh.

Seriously, to the OP: by the sound of it, you need to sort your driving habits and behaviour out...

I wouldn't be surprised if the magistrate concerned decides to take a slightly harder line with this one.

To avoid the 'flash' which is given out by a rear facing Gatso camera the Truvelo system uses an infra red flash which produces no visible 'flash' to the approaching driver. These rely on 3 white-lines in the road, painted just before the camera, and are triggered by strips in the road, used to gain the vehicles speed.

They do 'flash' - I was following a motorbike that triggered one. It gives off a purple flash. Your only get out is if it was out of film or something.

ill wait and see...

thanks for the tip though...

Oh btw my driving habits are not that bad I mean in the past 6 months I havent done anything to break the law unfortunately I was in my own world this morning and hence the thought of getting flashed...

But I think it must have been a reflection or something cuz all government websites that speak about the truvello state specifically "they do not flash"

thanks guys

speedo says 40 but might've been more like 34-36mph as they do overread in my experience, depending on how touchy the the camera was set you might've gotten off. However i'd be on my ps and qs for a bit, been driving sooo long yet am still paranoid and tend not to go over speed limit at all in unknown places and even when i do its usually only 2-3mph over :D . Truvellos DO flash btw as i'm sure i've seen one that was a Truvello do so, different and not as harsh but visible especially in the dark.

Should have done what that copper did in the paper, he was doing about 70 or summit past one on the way to a shout, and he took both hands of the wheel and thumbsed up to the camera smiling, and he did it again not long after at the same camera on his way to another shout, if your gona go down, you may as well go down in style like he did. :D

Does it mater if it flashed or not. He said he has been back to it and it say truvello all over it, so if he said he was doing 40 in a 30 past it, he is screwed.

Theres a local camera, most boy racers go past the wrong way 60 -70mph in a 40mph just to get it to flash, well known that this one can't catch you going the other way.

Not saying they all can't.

very annoying when your going the right way and some tard does it delibritly!

One of the guys here at uni ran out of points just after he'd passed his bike licence.

The court (you will have to go to court as it is a potential ban) was lenient and he got away with a big fine, no additional points, and a 24 day ban, he kept his licence.

if you do get done then do not whatever you do try and make out it was your mrs, I am pretty sure they come down on you really hard if you pretend it was someone else driving but they find out it is you, (sure i heard a story from somewhere)

Of course they do, it's called Perverting the course of justice and carries a much heavier fine.

If you have 5 points out of 6 maximum and have been banned previously for not having a valid license, just don't speed!

As already said, don't speed.

You are by your own admission, a new and inexperienced driver, slow down before you lose your license or worse.

Perverting the course of Justice is a very bad idea - my old mans a Magistrate and he gets plenty of people before him for similar offences.

I've got every sympathy with people caught doing 100 on a clear motorway on a dry day with good visibility, modern cars, modern brakes etc.

But 40 in a 30, driving whilst banned (and hence not insured) sorry, I would rather you were off the road. Admitting that you "weren't with it" is even worse when driving in a built up area.

I don't want to sound harsh, but you really don't seem to have learnt from the past.
