Speed Cameras Love em or hate em

I dont mind them. The ones i hate are the ones on a straight road that is straight and wide for kilometres on end. If they are around places with lots of corners and people and blind corners then they are in the right spot.

I would also like to see the speed limits change with the conditions of the road. Have any of u seen those speed limit signs that use LEDs and they change the limit in certain conditions and times of days makeing the road faster or slower?
There need to be more of those imo

yeah zip, active traffic management or something, there are a few motorways over here now that are starting to use it.

But why don't we take the limit down to 20 then? How about 10? No actually make it 2mph then no-one would ever get injured, and we can have as many crashes as we like!!!!! We won't have to worry about safety atall!!!!

The point is, that after 30mph, the amount of people that can survive an RTA plummets. We could take the speed limit down, but that wouldn't be a very appropriate use of speed, would it?

30 is there for a good reason, and built up areas should be a 30. I must admit though, some places that I know of are a 30 and shouldn't be.

Love em.

I've said this time and time again - the vast majority of the ones I see are in areas where you really should NOT be speeding. Then when I'm on the motorway or most dual carriageways, by and large they're not present and this is where you can be a bit more liberal with your speed.

I really dont see the problem - if you want to do 70 through residential areas I could understand your concern though...

And another thing. They are always on poles, very rarely inside trees or bushes ( ) and painted luminous, reflective yellow, unlike 99% of the signs on the road. If you STILL dont see them coming, I would question a) your observational skill and b) you're eligability to drive. :)

hate them. They are a pain in the bum. I can understand why Gatsos and Truvelos are put in residential areas but I detest the way they put them on dual carriageways, motorways and roadworks. Oh and why is it they are always sited at the bottom of hills I wonder?

Dual Carriageways

Few

Motorways

Very few.

Roadworks

Why not? Usually they result in a lane of the motorway being withdrawn, possible loss of hard shoulder area as well as people occasionally working on the road.

Bottom of hills

Because people are doing breakneck speeds when they hit the bottom of them?
