Speed difference if Raid 0 compaired to single drive ?

boot up be an faster, games load faster as well but will depend on the game, if your using vista you see the most benefit, as it should Hide a lot of the activity that vista makes or use windows 7 as they fixed most of that disk trashing that vista does

if your getting an SSD 64GB or 128GB just get one (set to AHCI BIOS) and not bother with raid they are Fast on there own and access times are way faster then any HDD can do (20-30x or more) so OS/programs/games norm load with no delay

i also count 3 threads mostly relating to the same queston or around the same topic, just bump an thread with an other queston next time if you need more answers

im going to be running 2 Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD6401AALS) on Vista 64bit .
Was talking to Rich at overclockers and he said to raid them and not bother with the SSD ....should wait till either western digital or seagate bring one out ....and the price drops ....i nearly had one last week but the price put me off .

1 SSD (samsung / vertex) will wipe the floor with an HDD RAID setup (Speed wise vs price / storage size)

(rice drops :) )
sorry price drops !!! lol ( just edited it )

as im using a single drive i guess i will see a difference using raid 0 ...
Its cheaper to get a second HDD and raid it ...then when the price drops and the performance of ssd's gets better then will invest in one :p

anything has got to be better than a single hdd !! lol

well lets hope the ssd's come down in price over the next year or so ...fingers crossed ...not as if im in a rush to get one lol
