Speed of intenet connection when multiple people connected

Not sure if the title makes sense but i have always wondered if having around 6 computers on a 4mb Telewest line slows each connection down??

Would upgrading to a 10mb line make any difference at all?

Yes. You are sharing the connection with 6 people. upgrading to 10mb will help a abit, but if someone downloads at full wack it is unlikely to help that much. You would need some kind of QOS. which will priorotise certain traffic, web sites and such over kazaa etc.

If they're not using the connection, it doesn't slow it down at all.
If they're using it, it'll slow down, shock horror.
