Speed test fine, downloads slow?

Hi all,

I have Virgin Media broadband, 200mbps. Downloads have been very slow on all devices from multiple sources this evening. However, the speed test is showing a full speed download and web browsing, video streaming etc is fine.

I have tried changing the DNS servers to Google’s primary and secondary and the results are the same. Rebooting the router has not helped either.

Any advice would be appreciated.

When we’re talking about SpeedTest there are two parts to it, the bit from the remote server to your router and the bit from your router to your device. It sounds like the bit outside your house is fine.

How are you identifying that your downloads are slow? What devices have slow download speeds? Are they wired or wireless? What remote sites are you downloading from? Are you downloading multiple streams or just one?

There’s loads of possibilities for slow downloads and you just have to work your way through them one by one.
