Speed Touch 585 Static IP assignment

Hey every1, I'm just having a little trouble with making my router assign me a static IP. I have set up the IP on my computer and set my router to assign me the same IP all the time, but it still states that the IP assignment is DHCP. Its a Thompson speed Touch 585. Software ver: 6.2.29.2.
Hope you guys can help seeing as the highest level of talk talk technical assistance couldn't help. Although they kept telling me I can't have a static IP. And I kept telling them I could.
All my other machines have static IP assignment if that helps.

Set the IP in Windows. Don't touch the router.

I'm assuming you mean a DHCP reservation.

I have set up the IP on my computer and set my router to assign me the same IP all the time, but it still states that the IP assignment is DHCP.

If you have set a DHCP reservation on your router, you would need to leave the PC set to DHCP and it will show the IP assigned by DHCP - this is correct

I'm not surprised they couldn't help. You called them talking about static IP's and they will think you mean static public IP's on their side of the router.

I wouldn't recommend that all, in fact the complete opposite.
Set the reservations in the router, and leave the PC's set to DHCP.

Much less of a headache in the long run.
