Speed triple

So far I'm torn between the CB1000R and the Speed Triple. I've ruled out the Z1000 took it out and whilst cool, not really keen on it.

The bking was more of a joke, it's a little OTT for me really ;)

Griso? Yet another shock Guzzi recommendation from me ;).

The Griso looks very nice. I've fancied one for a while to be honest. They look awesome in the Special Edition:

Havent ridden one though. It wont handle like a CB1000R, but they arent bad from what I've read, especially the later 8v versions

I couldn't say exactly - I've only ridden older Guzzis which can be best described as quirky. One the one hand you get a long wheelbase which gives good stability, plenty of mid-range power, and quite a comfortable ride, but on the other they still haven't sorted out the engine vibration or torque reaction which could be off-putting. I gather it's still something of a marmite bike, but I'd say it's worth trying at least once :).

Personal experience with the 1050s and 675s, the 675 just falls into corners and is generally ridiculously easy to throw around. Point it where you want and it will follow your lead - such a sorted chassis and the motor is very enthusiastic, punches well above its weight IMO.

The 1050 by contrast is much more cumbersome to pilot but the extra CCs really pack a punch, and obviously come into their own over longer distances as you don't need to keep it 'on the boil' all the time as you do the 675.

The thing is I'm a realtively heavy bloke so the nimbleness of a 600 is a little lost on me, though my 600cc triumph TT was very chuckable, but most of that came from me being the ballast! :p I weighed nearly 2/3rds of my bike. It is a tough call, as I do like a nimble bike, but I think, think think, I'm after something a bit "punchier" and more "lazy", but that I can still chuck around when the mood takes me! Does that make any sense? :p

It can actually be very rewarding chucking a big big bike about.

My GSXR was incredibly nimble, and the best handling bike by far, but it did mean you tended to be doing silly speeds just to feel like you were pushing the bike at all, whereas the Blackbird requires a lot more physical input around the twisty stuff, which is quite satisfying when you're in the right mood

I had a Speed Triple 1050 for just under 2 years.
Loved the bike.

It may be a little heavy but it handled like it was on rails and the engine is more than enough to lug its ass to silly speeds.
If you like lazy overtakes, the Speed does it with ease in any gear.

I had a Speed Triple 955, the bike and triple engine has so much caracter, the only other bike I had that was as much fun was a first generation Fireblade. Sadly something in the top end went and the bike started to smoke badly, I was quoted £1k+ for repairs. I think the 1050 engine has been improved but for me japanese reliabilty is what sold me my next bike, however I do miss the SP3. When I got the bike the shops mechanic said that the cost of ownership of a Triumph was more that an a jap bike, so if you do go that route you'll be rewarded but it may (or may not) cost you.

I've owned a triumph before and quite happily took it to pieces and back together again. I have owned several jap bikes too. However, it is something to consider. Though for me, feel, bond and character are almost as if not more important...

:D

If I had a garage with the space for several bikes it would DEFINITELY be on the list.

Whilst I want something less sport oriented, I think that's a little TOO far! But good call though! :D
