Hi, I seem to of been looking Into this forever.

I love to look of HTC Sense, and I can actually read friend stream, unlike the awful fb app.

However when friend stream.updates the phobe will freeze for about 20 seconds , also typing lags behind.
I have
Used advanced task killer
Another task manager (clears cache and startup apps ect)
Uninstalled rubbish.

Don't know what else I can do to be honest.
Not confident enough to root, don't want to damage my phone

HTC wildfire
Vodafone
2.2.1 stock

Thanks in advance

Ultimately this is due to the wildfire hardware being slow itself, and Sense isn't exactly lightweight, ultimately you've got two options:

Chuck on new kernel and overclock might help a tiny bit (not massively tbh, and falls into the 'don't want to damage my phone' category way more than rooting does :p)

Buy new phone, even something like a second hand Desire would be a fairly hefty step up from the Wildfire for not a staggering cost...

I also have 3g off which apparently helps. Can I overclock at all on the stock ROM??
Thanks,

I wouldn't recommend it, as it might cause boot loops.

You can try 1 click rooting it via this guide if you are lucky enough to not have the latest HBOOT (but I fear you have the latest which is locked) and then flash something like Cyanogen Mod 7..

Other than that, try a different launcher like GO Launcher / Launcher Pro.

i only bought the phone just over a month ago so i presume i have. is there any way to root it such as unrevoked? will that work without installing a different rom?

Using unrevoked to root shouldn't flash a new rom, and you can flash a new kernel over the top without losing your rom.
If you can root and flash a new kernel, use SetCPU to set some overclocking profiles.

Try putting the 3g back on - for all you know it might be hanging, waiting for data to populate friendstream with?

QuickSystemInfo Pro (free app) is quite useful, it shows CPU / RAM usage bars in the status bar, a lot like task manager does when minimised. Could also be useful to see what's going on :)

Will try that thanks, I only turned 3G off today after I read it, not really any difference tbh except uses less data, I get 1GBp/m so I am not bothered about that.
How do I go about flashing a custom kernel onto of my rom? Firstly what is the difference (keen to learn andeoid inside out just haven't to the time)

That app is great btw, and as far as I can see, it is the CPU bottlenecking the performance. Ram is around 40-60% not to bad CPU lives around 90-100%, I think if I can overclock the phone will be perfect. I am only on a 12 month contract so not bothered about life span to some extent.
Any help?

You can't root your phone because of HTC, they have signed the boot partition, so you can't flash a new ROM or overclock anything I'm afraid.

Unless someone has come up with a different way of getting root access that is...

Bit of a bummer, but I found out with my other halfs Wildfire and my Mums is the same.

Ahh, that is quite a shame, it's a very good phone and I don't need gaming so I was never considering anything like the HTC Sensation. It just could do with an extra 100+MHz then It would be perfect.
Thanks anyway :)
