Speedbump @ about 40mph

Ok kid? Sounds like a complete prat,

Sounds like me in my teens if I'm honest. I never drove anything like a BMW but I didn't treat my parents cars with much respect when I used them.

Some people take longer to grow up and some people are mentally in their 40's whilst doing their A-Levels *cough*fox*cough* ;)

I was in The Gambia a few weeks ago - now THOSE are some scary roads. Some potholes so big we nearly got launched straight out the back of the little suzuki jeep thing that didnt have seatbelts. And thats where there are actually roads, not just dust tracks

lol, the roads in The Gambia are shocking.

Did you go and see Charlie the crocodile? He's like a national treasure to them who apparantly likes people. They let you sit on him and pose for a photo...... ****** nearly took my arm off! :p

There is a speedbump at the UEA which I can literally not get over without a horrible scrape. My car is not even lowered! It's a horrible, horrible thing.

Yea of course, if you don't smash your Dads car up you are mentally in your 40's and a total loser.

I was talking more about the know all attitude and talking down to people rather than your driving ability. Also a bit of an ironic comment coming from someone who binned his car showing off at a meet.

Nah we didnt have time, apparently he's drugged anyway...

This is slightly off topic though :)

I don't see the irony at all. Making a mistake in your own car in the countryside is rather different from smashing somebody elses whilst street racing in a residential area.

Mind if I pop round and smash up your Skoda? It's the non-40-year-old thing to do, right?

Go for it, might improve the looks :p

Apologies for the over reaction and un called for dig. Crap day at work and I'm taking it out on every man and his dog not that that is a reasonable excuse.

I hit a hump backed bridge in my 205 GTI years ago flat - about 90 or so. We got serious air and the landing was hard enough to make "reversed" dents in the bonnet - 3 little dimples on each side where the strut mounting bolts had hit the underside of the bonnet.

Good times!

No, these are the worst.

They seem to be specifically designed to smash my aluminium sump.

Unless they're quite small I have to wait for traffic coming the other way to pass and mount both at once to get clearance.

I have been aggressively tail-gated and overtaken in these areas. EPIC objective defying.

Those are evil. They damage the inside of your tyres making you more prone to blow outs at high speed. Ouch!

This brings back memories of my first car, not that long ago compared to some of you.

I had a 1.1 Nova Merit, D reg in yellow, i replaced the rear arches and my dad re-sprayed it, was an awesome little car that seen many a mad teenage moment, including a bridge jump like Lopez, that earned it the name 'the yellow bullet'

My antics were always out of town, got quite a few country lanes down here and mine, like a few others ended of in a ditch once, it taught me a few lessons and stopped me drinking/smoking all my money away, just some of it!

On topic though, he's been an arse and hopefully he's learnt from it, dont keep him from a car for too long else he'll go mad when he gets behind the wheel next.

Funny update as i just remembered, car passed its first MOT with flying colours last week :D Clio still not given back, at least his dad was true to his word and didn't cave in.

I've had to visit the dealership to quickly screw my "sump guard" (more like plasticy-felt lined excuse for a cover) back on the GTA after an encounter with one of them. Pain in the rear.

Was it anything like this ?
