...S.M.A.R.T. tab/page, performed an 'In-Depth Online Analysis' of my Maxtor 6B160M0 SATA hard drive and it tells me all is well except 'Power Cycle Count':

@ 249 - 'Warning: Power Cycle Count is below the average limits (251-253)'

Explanation & advice they give for above: 'your hard disk Power Cycle Count attribute current value (249) is below the normal range (251 - 253) reported for your specific hard disk model. Basically your hard disk was power cycled more times than the maximum number the average hard disk was. Power cycles put some stress on the hard disk mechanic. Sometimes power cycles can be caused by a loose hard disk power connector. Make sure it is properly fastened.'

Did the latter, but being a Maxtor should i be worried? Noticed, in the last few weeks, that I can hear the disk sometimes. Had it now for almost a year :(

Nothing to be worried about there. Perhaps you have a power saving scheme under XP that turns off your HD after a period of time? Either that or you re-boot 2x a day...? Whatever, it's only marginally outside the 'average' values.
Yup, reboot quite often :(
