Speeding fine advice needed

Even excellent drivers can make mistakes. Not everyone is as perfect as you.

Being able to follow speed restriction signs isnt perfection. It's a basic requirement.
Not being able to do it twice is either a conscious choice or stupidity.

I guess you never ever make any mistakes in life.

Sometimes no matter how much you are paying attention you can look right at something and not see it - can be scary sometimes.

Have to say I've seen far too many roadworks with poorly thought out speed changes though including ones that have lead to crashes because whoever did the layout was a complete muppet.

I feel sorry for the biker/pedestrian you look at and don't see.
Can't say I have that issue, and I remember when I first passed my test I drove so carefully.
If you get caught speeding twice in your first days something is wrong.

I think a lot of people would be surprised how much, which wasn't inconsequential, they didn't register while driving - my uncle is a driving instructor and can pick up on stuff like that with just about anyone (probably including himself) in review.

Fortunately aside from my second day of driving lessons I've never had a problem noticing a cyclist or pedestrian other than delayed spotting them when they are camouflaged i.e. dark clothing in poor light, etc. there are times I've looked right at a sign and not register what is on it though - usually because something else is taking my attention like some **** who is needlessly tailgating me.

If you are normal there is a lot of stuff you don't see even when it's in plain view.. Unless you are asked about it or it some how interacts with you you will never know.. Its entirely possible to look directly at something and not see it..

I've had people make eye contact with me when I've been out riding and then pull out in front of me, it's unfortunately common.
Many people see things but don't actually see them.

Even more so for those who regularly do the exact same route 5 days a week, subconsciously your brain almost goes into autopilot.

Was this a temporary speed restriction in place at roadworks, or is the road normally 30 there?

It used to be points were not issued, only fines for breaching a temporary limit.

Worth checking because 6 points on a new license is going to be a problem.

Edit: seems the rules changed around 2002 according to posts on pistonheads!

Thats because they're ass hats.

Didn't you know your considered an expert driver if you can maintain your speed to the speed limit.

Apparently so! Hey I'm just enjoying being the alleged human embodiment of perfection with my ability to stick to speed limits.

Its worrying though that being able to do that makes me akin to god.
