This morning my Mam received a NIP for being flashed by a GATSO doing 40 in a 30 zone. The thing is she was flashed two months ago. As I understand it, unless you receive the NIP within 14 days then they can't do anything about it, is this correct?

Can somebody please clear up the details for me surrounding this issue.

14 days with 2-3 days for postage if you own the car and 6 months if company car.

Check the post mark on the letter?

Well the car is owned by my Mam and Dad. My Dad has the letter at work so I won't get to check the postmark until later today.

May be of use...

Someone I know *ahem* got a ticket about a year ago on the M25 from a fixed camera. I don't approve of speeding, but here is what they did to get off it:

1: Send an empty envelope to the return address - and get proof of postage.
2: Wait
3: If they come back to you, send off a photocopy of your proof of posting saying you did everything you legally had to etc and ask if you should re-send the original.
4: Go to step 1.

I only got to step 2 for mine, they never even chased it up :D

NB: Different counties have different % follow ups that you can find out - in London only 50% of people flashed actually get charged, in Nottingham I think its 100%

Doh I though it happened in the family car, but I've been told it was in my Dad's Passat company car, caught at 35 in a 30, guess there's not much that can be done then.
