I was over the limit I think whilst I was travelling on the M25/M26, can't quite remember which part and I saw a car on the hard shoulder with it's hazards on and a man standing on top of a tiny hill.

He had a high vis jacket on during the day, I thought **** at first, I've been caught, but then I slowed down and saw he had a flat cap on (I think) and was holding his mobile phone, which looked like a speed gun from a distance.

I might be acting paranoid but how long is the wait, 14 days?

The police would never put their car on the hard shoulder with hazards on whilst carrying out speed checks, and when they do carry out checks they tend to stop you at the time. Sounds like you're in the clear, but the wait is 14 days.

Sounds like it's just a bloke whose car has broken down and he's not a moron so he's moved away from the hill and is wearing something to make him stand out.

Thanks for the replies, gives me some confidence.

Also need to stop being so heavy footed on the motorway.
Don't worry about that on the M25. I've spent years and years driving thousands of miles a month on the M25, and the speed enforcement I have witnessed is limited to:

1) Fixed gantry cameras, only technically active when a variable limit is in force, seem to do nothing in any case

2) A police car that happens to be trundling along

It seems you can wizz around the M25 at 250 MPH, and as long as you look out for police cars, nothing bad will happen.

This as well. Never seen any camera vans or police with laser guns on the M25 and I'm on it all the time.
