Canada - where the beer flows
I live in canada and our power uses different voltages than in the UK and I was wondering if I ordered this set from OCUK if it would work, or if maybe they could get a special order for me? The only place I've seen that has them in canada is all out for at least a month and I noticed on their website it says "INCLUDES NORTH AMERICAN POWER SUPPLY", thats why I'm not sure about ordering from OCUK.

any help would be great!

Dunno.
It should work, regardless of what voltages the mains use over there, as long as the AC/DC converter (power block) still chucks out the voltage that the amp uses, it should work fine.

If I got the USB version then I wouldn't need any power adapter or new soundcard right? I've heard the USB version isn't the best quality though. Would it be noticable if your not a sound geek? Because right now I use a very old SB soundcard and a $30 set of Jenson CD player headphones(full ear cover)

Well I've just read about all the problems people have ran into with the USB set with quality and driver issues, so I don't really want to get them. I think I'm going to get a "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 Sound Card - OEM" to work with the non-usb Medusa's. Will that soundcard be ok?

Also a European to North American power adapter should allow them to work for me here in Canada, right?

Yeah, avoid the USB ones, Toms Hardware reckoned they had serious problems. As for soundcard, yeah that's just fine, anything that can output anologue 5.1 will do (ie 3 stereo plugs).

No idea about power though. I know I avoided ordering Klipsch 5.1 ultras from the US because they would have needed a power transformer.

You in the 220V or 110V part of canada? In the UK we're 220V, apparently. We also have plugs with 3 square pins.

110V

I've decided against the Medusa's, too many people seem to be having problems with them and I don't want to be bothered with an RMA overseas, if I get a dodgy set.

What I think I'm going to do is get the Sennheiser PC160 headset. I haven't heard NEARLY as many bad things about these headphones and even though the sound quality might not be "as" good, compared to the Medusa's(ones that work anyways  ), I think they will be fine with an Audigy SE 7.1 card for a person like myself who has been using a cheap $30 pair of Jenson headphones with a 10 year old Ensoniq sound card :p

Check out the other Medusa thread (might have to search for it), lots of people have issues with the headphones breaking or the amp developing a fault. Mine are still working perfectly, but enough people seem to have them go wrong to suggest the build quality isn't the best.

lol.
Threads commenting on certain product problems are bound to be filled with people with problems! :p
People rarely post to praise, they post to complain.

Ive had mine for 1.5 years now and they've been great.

Of course, but nevertheless you will read (in that other thread) that plenty of people have had the phones fail, and as bellylard pointed out correctly, there isn't a similar thread with complaints about Sennheiser PC160 failing. Therefore it's reasonable to come to the conclusion that the Medusas are more likely to fail than the Sennheisers.

The number of complaints doesn't tell you how likely your particular purchase is to develop a fault, but it does let you compare products against each other for reliability.

As I said, my Medusas are working perfectly.

You can't seem to buys these off the catalogue at the moment (thurs afternoon), I wonder if they are discontinuing them as they've been on offer of the week many times recently?
