Hello there.

I recently bought a sat-nav for my car. The device reports my current speed as being 3mph below that reported by the speedo on the car.

Is this an issue others have, and is it worth sorting out? I am assuming that the sat-nav is correct in its measurement.

Cheers.

My old Mondeo used to show an indicated 100mph at an actual 90. The subsequent Mazda was bang-on true speed. My Soarer reads about 2% over.

Just started driving, so I got myself a Suzuki Alto. Nothing to write home about, but it does the job.

The sat-nav has a hissy-fit any time i pass remotely near a speed camera, fingers crossed I wont get burned by one.

I heard your Sat Nav was 2mph out but I am not sure which way, so your speedo is either 1mph or 5mph out. My advice is sell both just in case, but don't mention it on the advert as the police might get involved and batton you on the legs but only if you know swampy.

Bloody slow days, hate em...

Its normal for a speedo to be a bit below your actual speed and you'll probably find that 3mph is closer than most as many speedos overread in the 5-8% range.

The main reason it over reads is because the manufacturers play it safe as if they over read by 1mph+ and drivers got fines/points for speeding then they'd possibly be in line for law suits ;)

wrong way round the speedo reads higher than your real speed
