speeds and screen types

does one really notice a difference between 5ms and 2ms? And also whats the best screen type to get? eg theres TN and TFT etc

I would personally read views on any monitor you have your eyes on, or have been recommended.

From then on, buy the best you can afford.

I have a samsung 226bw 2ms and if my understanding is correct, the rta mode is the overdrives and when the rta mode is turned off, it performs like the 225bw 5ms display. If i'm understanding this correctly i'd say i can definitely tell the difference between 2ms/5ms when rta is on / off.

Remember the 2ms and 5ms is grey to grey...the 2ms ones use overdrives which mean in black to white the 2ms perform nearer 10-15ms in extreme cases whereas the 5ms+ (ie no overdrives) can perform waywords of 20ms + black>white.

Bottom line - The overdrives in the supposed 2ms panels helps lots in fast action packed games.

jsut that I was thinking about the Samsung SM-206BW but for £180 or LG 22 WIDE TFT L226WTQ for £198. or does any-one have any other suggestions?

Not many you have overlooked as far as tn-panels go. What type of games do you play? If the games you like the play are really slow paced games such as morph's / rts type games then you might want to take some advice off the dell/s-ips crew

and investigate panels such as the dell 20" wpf instead.

i was just wondering what the difference with Tn panels were. I've sold the "is speed noticable" question but any ideas or what panel type is better?
