Sperm question...

How can it not have instinct? Christ, think about what you are saying. If sperm did not have instinct, just what the shuddering hell tells it to swim in the first place?

You are arguing that a single haploid cell has at least some form of mind, as that is necessary to have instincts. That is ridiculous. You should think about what you are saying.

Its caused by cell signalling to a positive stimulus.

Its odd the only time I get to come across as a know it all is on OCUK :p

The journey of the sperm to the egg is equal to a man swimming the ocean made of treacle (apparently).

That can't be right. Just imagine it - 15 million men jump off the coast of Cornwall into the Atlantic, which happens to be full of treacle instead of water, and a few hundred make it to the US?
I guess that explains the origins of the US motto - E pluribus unum, or One out of many

Hmm, I'm not so sure. I remember one or two ladies where the vast majority of sperm ended up back on my sheets . Though that may say more about said ladies than the sperm themselves
That probably because they were on the pill, To quote wiki:

WikiPedia said:
A secondary mechanism of [the pill] is inhibition of sperm penetration through the cervix into the upper genital tract (uterus and fallopian tubes) by decreasing the amount of and increasing the viscosity of the cervical mucus.
a.k.a It blocks the pipe :D

As far as I understood you'd swim at the same speed through a swimming pool of water or treacle
