Morning all,
anyone using latest edition of spiceworks (5.1)?
Well i put a clean install on last thursday, took ages to do full new network scan. I got loads of configs done by the end of friday.
Then, today i get to work, turn the pc on, load up spiceworks and it won't accept my login credentials. I absolutely have the right credentials, no question about that.
So i go through the password reset procedure, where it resets the password to 'spiceworks', but still fails on login. Tried it again and rebooted, still nothing.
I can't ask on their forums cos i can't frikkin login!!!!!!
Anyone got any suggestions. I don't want to lose my db and settings as it took ages to setup.

Any advice appreciated.

I'm using 5.1. It's great!

Is there no other account you can use to test it? Are you locked out? are you remember to put your @DOMAIN.co.uk / .com after your user name?

I use my works email address, and a standard password. Irrespective of that, the darned reset_password.exe doesn't even work, so i'm well stumped.

Try another account....?

We've had absolutely no issues at all here.... Even when upgrading, it went straight through, picking up credentials from the previous version/s

Here to help

Greetings Banzai, sorry for the inconvenience. I'm a member of SW Support feel free to send us a request to [email protected] with your log files and mention what you stated here on this board and we'll quickly sort this out for you.

Kind Regards!

Thanks very much.
I contacted the support team yesterday and within a day i'd sent them my log files, they repaired them, sent them back and i'm now a happy bunny.

Great support for an opensource type product.

Hi, back again.
Anyone had any issues scanning the network?
SW support fixed my login issues, but aside to that v5.1 seems to throw up more problems when scaning/connecting to devices on the network. Previous versions didn't do this.
I've gone through the troubleshootintg steps of using GPO to sort the firewalls out and ensure WMI is allowed through; i can also ping the devices that it says it cannot contact.
Could our Draytek Vigor 28280n router be involved, seeing as though everything is internal,. Should i open ports on there?
I checked DNS and one particular pc didn't have an rDNS entry, so i created one, and re-scanned, no difference still fails. saying
"No open ports for this device were found to be responding.
This typically means that there is a firewall or permission issue preventing remote access"

Any ideas guys, before i go back to SW with my tail between my legs.
