Your own responsibility to keep the flat clean, but if its outside your door then it depends on who owns the building\block...

im on the ground floor and have my own front door. outside is the landlords responsibility. i wouldnt usually bother but im a little worried about them getting inside tbh.
On a similar note, I was taking a dump reading a mag last night and a similar sized spider to the one in the photo above scurried toward me. I swear it was going to eat me so I dropped the mag and since then I've yet to lift the mag to clean it up cos I'm **** scared of them.

I reckon my house contains dozens of the little buggers, but they're all of the "daddy long legs lookalike" breed, and as such are totally harmless, their teeth can't even pierce your skin, I've let them try and its funny to watch
Though my garage is another story, I think there's a huge colony there as there isnt a 1 square foot on the ceiling that doesn't contain either spiders or spiderwebs (same breed though, so still harmless).
They eat flies/mozzies tho, so they are my friends

See I actually felt my heart rate increase at that picture.
I can't stand spiders, as in really scared of them.

when i was around 15 i was lieing in bed watching tv with the light off when i noticed a peiceof fluff falling from the ceiling, it got about 10 inches a way when i noticed it was a massive spider, i barely managed to roll out the bed before it would have landed on me !
i ran out of the room and closed the door then slept in the living room until my mum woke up at 6am to get ready for work lol, made her kill it before i went back in the room.
it was massive though if it was plopped in the middle of a DVD its legs would easily have gone over the edges.
sucks living in the suburbs near a farmers field
, luckily i live in the city centre these days so i dont get the really big ones anymore.
