Spider Noir

Just finished the series. Overall I enjoyed it. There were a couple of times the one-liners didn't hit right, but as a comic style, not take itself too seriously something to watch, I liked it.

I started in black and white, and there were a couple of times where I thought it was over processed, or you could see that they had worked to change it to the black and white style but it seemed to get better as the episodes went along. A few times I saw a shot/scene and thought that looks great in B/W, wonder what it looks like in colour and switched over. Just about most times I felt that when you jumped to colour it was too saturated or the palette of what people were wearing and the background rooms were odd / clashing. Also felt on some of the outdoor scenes, that in colour, the background stood out as being an added in by special effects, but in the black and white, it was less so the case.

So I'd personally recommend B/W to watch.

Enjoyed this, watched it in the 'Tru-Color' option which depending on the screen your watching it on is either going to be amazing (OLED) or look washed out (IPS) fair play they've nailed the look of films that used similar technology back in the 1940s / 50s. this is first show I've watched since Perry Mason were all the sets look like they are actually from that time period, granted you can tell it's been mainly shot on a set somewhere as it's got the same road layout as other shows filmed in same place.

Robbie doing his best Ben / Nic Cage impression in the last episode gave me a chuckle, it's such a unique way of speaking.

Wasn't too sure on the CGI especially at the start but after that it didn't look bad and the few action scenes sprinkled throughout held up well.

Hopefully it gets another season.

Finished watching this. I watched it in B/W and visually loved it. I thought overall it was a solid if a little unexciting story. Silvermane was a cool character but the 3 goons were a little dull, the electricity guy was just annoying, the guy with the lizard skin just looked like an Aldi Klingon. Sandman was ok, although not because he was Sandman. The budget clearly was not very big so most of the time he just looked like a guy who'd fallen asleep in his kid's sandpit. Cage was...Cage. He was probably the biggest strength and biggest weakness. Sometimes he was really good but a few times it did descend into silly slapstick and Cage-isms. I probably liked the human characters the best, Silvermane, Cat, Robbie and Janet were all good.

I think the best bits were the origin flashbacks and the episode with the doctor, loved the body horror bits.

I don't know if this is a one and done or if there is a plan to do more. I'd probably give it a 7/10 overall.

Effects in the trailer look a bit naff, but the biggest issue with the whole thing is Nicholas Cage.

This is going to one place, and one place only...

I thought this was nominated for a few awards? Anyway, surprised S2 got cancelled.
11 Emmy nominations according to the article.

With these streaming shows you never really know how much they cost and how many viewers they got. I suspect this was expensive and didn't get enough viewers to compensate the price tag.

Also Superhero TV shows don't seem to do that well these days.

Given how expensive it was it would have been a miracle if it was renewed, bummer tho as it was the best superhero show in quite a while
