i guess it must only be me but the game runs crap slow and the graphics don't even look that good even in those screenshots.
the textures are crappy and performance is deffo sluggish for me even at a low rez with no AA or AF.

then again you guys are using 8800gts cards......

What drivers are you using? I had Febs release of the x1900xt drivers and switching to April's made a huge difference.

Good call, definitely looks like an updated GTA engine.

What do you actually do as part of the game though?

Mini missions, main missions, movie missions. You can just free swing around the city, fight mini crime events and explore for bonus items. There really is loads you can do.

This game runs like crap. I'm seriously happy when I’m running 20fps, because it will routinely dip to 15-

On the other hand, I think it looks great in motion. The only way to improve frame rates is to cut the city detail to medium, which lowers draw distance. I put up with the bad frame rate, as the draw distance makes this game look great.

That really is the only way to improve my frame rate, I run it at 1680x1050 with 4x AA. If I take AA off and drop the res to 1440x900 I don’t get any benefit at all, still the same old crappy frame rate.

Looking in my CCC, my Graphic OC reverted to stock (for like the billionth time), cranking it up an extra 50mhz did give me a noticeable boost in game.

Latest drivers, AA x 2, control your clocks in ATI Tray Tools and do not alt-tab out of game.

I run a similar spec to you except on a x4400 and the game plays very well (I also OC the GPU core by about 50mhz).

Have you measured your FPS in fraps? What is the lowest it goes?

I just updated 7.2 to 7.4 I think it was, there was slight improvement. I still sometimes hit less than 20fps though, especially in Central Park and Time Square.

I'm a little worried about my machine, I get decent scores in things like 3DMark, but a couple of games seem cripled. FEAR runs pretty crap, Quake 4 runs at 30-40 FPS WITH the dual core patch on. Maybe it's my machine. :(

i noticed some games really do become hindered if OS, Page File and game are all on the same HDD, especially with sata 1 anyway

My PC would kick this game in the face hard. Only problem is it crashes on launch, the git.

Nah Im dual booting xp/vista its prolly a driver problem.. I will see if it works in vista.

EDIT:

Dont work in either os... oh well. :(

Seems a bit extreme but i'll give it a go, thanks.

It's not. Some of them are redundant anyway. I only had to disable the top 3.

Was the same fix for King Kong. Sucks but I'm happy to do it until/ if a patch comes out.
